How many Maybe Days do I have in my contract

That’s what a new hire once asked at a company.

(I didn’t know what ‘Maybe Days’ are.)

Reading further, I got to know:

“Maybe Days?

Those are the days I wake up and I’m just not in the right mood.

I want to stay home. Not sick. Not on holiday. Just because I want to.”

The new hire didn’t stay for long at the company.

But that question stuck with me.

Because in my company?

Everyone has 100% Maybe Days.

I work primarily with freelancers.

No contracts forcing them to stay.

They’re here because they want to be.

They could hop onto another project at any time.

They stay because they believe in the product, the client, and the team.

And sure, it is scary!

The freedom means they could leave at any moment.

But here’s the magic: They don’t.

They stay.
They care.
They show up.

Because they choose to.

And that’s the biggest productivity and morale boost any team can have.
What’s your take?

Is it risky to give people that kind of freedom?
